Natural White Teeth – 3 Home Remedies for a Perfect Smile

It’s no secret that our world is very aesthetically driven. This has made white teeth a priority for everyone. Over 1.4 billion dollars are spent each year by Americans on teeth whitening products. However, the teeth can become very sensitive after many whitening procedures. Luckily, there are alternatives to get natural white teeth!

Baking soda or Sodium Bicarbonate has become a cure-all in many popular alternative treatments. Its slightly abrasive nature will help to remove the surface stains from your teeth. Also, with gentle scrubbing it will return the whiter shade of your teeth. Since baking soda is alkaline it will help to balance the pH of your mouth, especially if you consume a lot of acidic food. Additionally, coffee, smoking, and alcohol all affect the acidity of your mouth. Lemon juice is a natural bleach, and its acidic properties will be reduced because of the baking soda. You could also use water instead of lemon juice.

  • Baking soda
  • Lemon juice or water
  • A toothbrush

Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with enough lemon juice/water to make a paste. Meanwhile, pat your teeth dry with a paper towel. Apply the paste as evenly as possible and let it sit for one minute. Afterwards, rinse thoroughly. If you’re using water to create the paste, you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes in order to get the same effect. Because it’s a very strong mixture, don’t use it more than a couple of times a week or you risk weakening your teeth.

Strawberries are another fruit that is very rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is very helpful in removing plaque that accumulates on your teeth, giving a yellow appearance. In addition to Vitamin C, strawberries also contain malic acid. Malic acid is an enzyme which helps to remove surface stains, helping to get natural white teeth. The abrasiveness of the salt will also help to remove the stains. If you like, you can also add baking soda to the mixture.

  • Strawberries
  • Sea salt
  • Baking Soda (optional)

Take 1 to 3 large strawberries and mash them until you get a paste of nearly smooth consistency. Then, add a pinch of sea salt and half a teaspoon of baking soda (if you choose to add the latter.) After patting your teeth dry with a paper towel, apply the scrub using a toothbrush. Leave it to sit for up to 5 minutes and rinse well. You can use this scrub every night.

It might sound surprising, but coconut oil is an old and unique remedy. People have been practicing what is referred to as oil pulling for a long time. It’s seen a rise in popularity in recent years, because of its effectiveness in achieving natural white teeth with a simple, all-natural method. Coconut oil contains lauric acid which will remove bacteria from your teeth. In addition, it’s great for helping to keep the gums healthy and your breath fresh.

  • Coconut oil

Before brushing your teeth in the morning, use about a tablespoon of coconut oil. After it melts in your mouth, move and swish it all around your mouth, making sure to get it through all of your teeth. Keep doing this for about 10 to 15 minutes. Afterwards, spit it out, rinse out with water and brush your teeth normally.
